Takashi Harada, Ondes Martenot

After graduating from the Economics Department at Keio University, Takashi Harada traveled to France, inspired by his encounter with the Ondes Martenot—an instrument renowned for its remarkable capacity for intense self-expression. He graduated with top honors at the Paris Conservatoire and became one of the few soloists to perform the instrument. Harada has received numerous awards, including the Idemitsu Music Award, the Yokohama Cultural Encouragement Award, and the Music Pen Club Award.

Furthermore, Olivier Messiaen's Turangalila-symphonie, a composition in which the Ondes Martenot plays a central role, has become one of Harada's signature pieces. As a soloist, he has performed the work not only in Japan but also with world-leading orchestras at major venues including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, the Paris Opera House, and Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
